Derek Warwick has been suspended from his duties as a steward for the Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix due to controversial media interviews.
The 70-year-old, with four grand prix podiums, was set to be a steward in Montreal but was suspended by the FIA.
His comments about current drivers circulated by a gambling firm led to his suspension.
Enrique Bernoldi will replace Warwick for the Canadian Grand Prix.
Warwick apologized for his “ill-advised” comments and will return as a steward for the Austrian Grand Prix.
This incident follows Johnny Herbert’s similar action earlier this year, impacting F1 stewards’ involvement with gambling companies.
Warwick’s rich racing history includes Le Mans 24 Hours victory in 1992 and world sportscar champion title that same year.
